Great weekend…
It was a great time at the Alpha weekend. We had such a pouring out of the Holy Spirit’s blessings on us. I am in awe. I didn’t get much sleep because the youth were noisy and energetic at 12:00 AM!! More than should be allowed! lol..they kept us alive and fresh, that’s for sure.
My family survived without me for a day and a half. But there is a whole sink full of dishes and a house to clean up. I don’t mind too much. Today is also the dreaded laundry day. Yeah so why am I on the pc? I am waiting to hear about how Anna Nicole died. Crazy, huh?
Boy Scouts
Last night was Jake’s Crossing Over ceremony. He wasn’t in Cub Scouts long enough to earn the Arrow of Light award but he did get a nice certificate for crossing over into Boy Scouts. Here he is with that and his Webelos leader and Uncle Phil.
Here he is crossing the bridge and saluting.

Jake is in the Eagle patrol now. He is so proud. It was a fun evening. All the boys gave their moms roses and hugs in front of everyone! The Boy Scouts gave each boy their red neckerchief, epelets, hat and scout handbook in a nice cover. Oh yeah, they all got flashlights too. Their first campout is in the end of April. Jake is so excited! I think Phil is too.
Hair.
Hair. What is it about hair that makes people get all bent out of shape? Last night I took Caleb to get his hair cut. The stylist wasn’t the nicest or friendliest. I should have left at that point. But I didn’t. I let her butcher his hair. Poor kid cried for 15 minutes in the shower. And if I even mentioned one thing about it, he started crying again. I sent an email to his teacher to warn her of his attitude about his hair. Sheesh, this is too much emotion over hair. I am now kicking myself and in a bad mood too. All over hair! Did I mention that I am growing mine out for a Locks of Love donation? Yep, I have about 4 inches to go before I will get it cut to a length I can live with again. I don’t like short hair on me.
But then there is Jake and he likes his hair high and tight, like a Marine. Phil just hates that his keeps getting thinner, grayer and receeding. Poor guy. Lauren straightens hers daily and dyes it often. Brit hasn’t been able to color hers since before she got pregnant with Elizabeth and also hers is long now. She wants to get it cut too. And colored. Jonathan, well he doesn’t care much about his hair, as far as I can tell. It’s Brit that keeps it looking decent, I think. And then precious baby girl Elizabeth…her hair is strawberry blonde and just so fine like a baby’s should be. Oh yeah, even the dog, Jack, got his hairs cut last week. He looks like black velvet now.
So what do we do about Caleb? I haven’t a clue. I do know that someone on a message board I visit said something to me about “boy and hair and what the Bible has to say”! Puh-lease!!!! I like this lady but right now I am angry and about to cuss her out. We are not under the law any longer! Her logic is full of crap! There I said it!!! CRAP CRAP CRAP!!!!!
St. Patrick’s Day
Buzzard spotting…
Well today is the day they go and spot the Buzzards. I haven’t been able to find a time. I might have to call my father-in-law for that. He came into town yesterday for the 50th anniversary of spotting the big ugly birds. He used to spot them for 25 years. He made national news several years in a row spotting those things. Kind of funny, our family’s claim to fame are buzzards. Oh well. Here is a link to the Hinckley Township page about Buzzard Day.

I am feeling better but my throat is sore and scratchy. So is my voice. I sound horrible. I took Jack in for a grooming appointment this morning. Two days ago the weather was 71 and sunny. This morning we had 32 and ice/sleet/snow mix that meant my van was iced over and the boys had a 2 hour delay for school. On a day I could have slept in, I had to get up and take the dog over to the groomer! Poor planning I guess.
I am excited because Brit and Jonathan and Elizabeth are coming to visit this weekend too. Elizabeth will get to meet her great-grandpa! I will have pictures to post on Sunday or Monday.
Germs are spreading..
so now I have this crud that the boys so lovingly gave to me! Yuck. I feel like a 50 pound weight is sitting on my chest. I am coughing too. This just stinks.
Playing Dr. Mom again…
Jake has been sick since Wednesday. He was clearing his throat something like 4 times a minute. I took him to the dr. and he was prescribed Augmentin for a sinus infection. Well all that day, he had chills but no fever. We took him to church that night and he still said he felt chilled. Phil brought him home and took his temp., it was up to 101. So he then missed a total of 3 school days because he kept spiking fevers as high as 104 and the coughing got worse. The throat clearing was over though. Well last night after watching a movie with the boys, Caleb all of a sudden felt horrible. I said when people get the flu, they say they feel like they were hit by a truck and he said that is how he felt. He was also scared about something from the movie. I gave him some Tylenol to help with the pains and we prayed for them both. They awoke me at 3:00 and I took Caleb’s temp as he was burning up. It was at 103 so he got more Tylenol. At 6:00AM! they were both up watching cartoons! Argh..I was not ready for the day to start. Caleb then began the puking. Yuck. He made it to the bathroom. I let the dog out, took both boys temps. and told them to quietly watch tv. They just had to call for me and I would be there. Phil got up with them at 8 AM and let me sleep in, which was good because I was just plain cranky.
We are almost out of chewable Tylenol so someone will have to make a run for that and Ginger Ale. Caleb was supposed to go to a fun birthday party tonight but that is out. Church is probably out for tomorrow morning for him. I am not sure about Cub Scouts tomorrow night. I guess we will see how this plays out. I hope no one else gets sick. I think Jake’s fever is finally breaking for good. If it climbs again today the dr. will order a new prescription of antibiotics, but he did order some prescription cough meds for Jake. That is helping some. So now we sit home on a rainy Saturday with sick boys. Pray for us if you think of it.
Day 4, first growth
