Lazy Saturday….

Posted by micie66 on September 29, 2007

As I sit at my computer, I am looking out the window. The horses in their corral, across the street, are playing like kids! It’s funny. The big brown horse is chasing the little tan pony. They are having fun. I sure hope it’s just playing! Unlike my neutered dog who decided that when the other neighbor’s dog was in heat 2 weeks ago, he would do what came naturally. I didn’t think he would want to do that! It’s the first time in the 5 years since we moved here that he tried that with her.
Anyway, watching the horseplay is fun. The owner of the brown horse is a young girl. She drives a sporty car and shows up a few times a week. She rides bareback a lot on that horse. I don’t know how she does that at all! Ouch! The big horse is now almost bucking at the little one. I hope they are ok. Goodness, there are 3 of them now. One little pony who is the instigator and 2 horses chasing him around. It’s been a fun diversion for me.
I have nothing to do today. Maybe some laundry. Phil is going to shoot his bow for awhile out back. The lawn needs mowed. Yep, just a lazy Saturday here.

Thursday Thirteen #2

Posted by micie66 on September 27, 2007

Today I am going to list 13 things, not people, I can’t live without. I bet this ends up making me look shallow, but probably if the truth be told, many of the readers would have to admit to a list similar to mine. So here we go. (Sorry I didn’t do a TT last week. I was uninspired.)

In random order:

1. My computer: it connects me to the world that I couldn’t otherwise be in touch with given I am a stay at home mom.

2. My cell phone: yeah, many people for many many years lived without one but now that I have one, I wouldn’t want to be without it. Seriously though, if we have to cut back on expenses, it’s going to be the one thing I try to keep.

3. My contact lens: I hate wearing glasses. Mine are thick and ugly. They get dirty and oily so easily. I love my contacts but I think I need new ones.

4. My hot pink crocs: They are knock-off’s of the original brand. My back doesn’t ache after wearing them and being out on my feet all day. Don’t worry, I don’t have a reason to use escalators much.

5. My house: OK, maybe it’s a given, but hey, we all gotta live somewhere, right? Mine is just the right size but could use some more closet space and organization. Heck, it needs cleaned too. But it keeps me warm and dry.

6. My van: It’s my main mode of transportation. We inherited it from my dad when he died. It doesn’t have sentimental value so much as it just filled our need when it was there. God knew what He was doing in that situation.

7. A good purse: I am having the worst time finding exactly what I need and want. And it has to fit my budget, read that as cheap! Come on ladies, you know what I am talking about, right?

8. My meds: Hey they keep me stable and stable is a good thing.

9. Dark chocolate: Any brand or kind. I even like the stuff with nuts and berries in it that Hershey makes. It’s all good.

10: Soy cheese: Yep, I will admit it that this one sounds funny. See, I loved cheese. All kinds of cheese. I was a cheese connoisseur. But alas, I am not able to tolerate cheese or almost any kind of dairy any longer. So I settle for soy cheese in my food. I use slices and shreds. It makes me feel like I am still getting cheese. Pathetic, huh?

11. Coffee: I like half-caff. It does what I need it to do. I love going to Starbucks or Caribou with my wonderful man and just sitting and chatting and people watching while we enjoy a cup of coffee. When I splurge, I order a Grande Soy Raspberry Mocha without whipped cream. Yep, sounds good.

12. Coconut oil: I am going to leave out the explanation for this one. This will give you something to search around the ‘net for. LOL….

13. Music: It inspires me. It speaks to me. It lifts me up. It consols me when I am down. I like country, Christian and old classic rock.

I hope you enjoyed my list. Do your own. Leave a comment if you do as well as a link.

Thanks to Thursday Thirteen for hosting and inspiring.

Catching up on my blogging…

Posted by micie66 on September 24, 2007

So I was reading at MJ’s and JB’s blogs about 8 things in my kitchen. Well here’s my list…

1. 4 cutting boards: I only use 2 of them on a regular basis.

2. Lots of great Pampered Chef knives but I use the 8 inch santuko one the most.

3. One old china cabinet that holds useless stuff and is taking up space!

4. Lots of fur dustbunnies from our dog. Yuck. They never seem to go away.

5. Most all of my cabinets are from 1950. You have to close the left one first as it has a lip the right door rests on. The bottom cabinets have pull out drawers. Yea, but they leave wood dust on everything on the bottom-est shelf! lol…

6. Table and 2 chairs. We bought this so my hubby and I could sit and talk with each other, and so he could sit in the mornings and have his coffee in a nice place. Reality is that the table is always covered in clutter and the china closet mentioned in #3 is in the way from really enjoying the sitting time.

7. Too many unused kitchen items such as old pots and pans, utensils, old spices, old expired food and serving dishes. One day it will be organized.

8. The best thing in my kitchen is the menu plan I put up each week now. Whew! I needed to end this list with something good.

Long but fun day…

Posted by micie66 on September 23, 2007

We took a trip to Pittsburgh to visit my family. Brit, Elizabeth, Lauren, Caleb and me all went. Jake is on a scout trip and Phil stayed home alone as did Jonathan. Here are a few pictures. The first is the 4 generations of women on my side of the family.

We came home, bring McDonald’s food with us and had a quick dinner. Afterwards, we fed Elizabeth and Uncle Caleb decided to read to her. First he read Green Eggs and Ham to Elizabeth. Then he ran for a few more books and sat down with her to read Red Fish, Blue Fish. He is so funny with her. What joy to hear your son read to your granddaughter!

Doors…

Posted by micie66 on September 19, 2007

What an appropriate title. Phil called me just now about the interview he had. It went well. We have to pray to know if this is a door the Lord wants us to walk through. They were very sure they will be calling Phil about a job. He is a great guy and a great mechanic, although they don’t know it yet. But the starting pay for this job stinks! So does the Lord want this for us? Not sure, we will have to pray about it.

I got an email from Phil’s phone. Here is the picture.

See on the day of March 17, 1993 I took Phil out for a free birthday meal at Denny’s. This is in another town, the one where we met and married. Well that is where he was this morning. He went to Denny’s to eat. He was seated at this table near the same door that we sat near in 1993. The door made a “fart” noise whenever it was opened. We couldn’t help but laugh all the way through that dinner.

So today he took a picture of the door and sent the message “It doesn’t fart anymore” along with it! LOL..he is a nut and a sweetie for remembering. It was a special time in our relationship back then. We were just beginning to form the friendship that is the base for our marriage. Gosh, lots of memories are flooding in. I can’t wait for him to get home!

Never underestimate the power of God and networking…

Posted by micie66 on September 18, 2007

I just can’t believe what is going on. We thought when Phil decided to get back into aviation that it would be a long hard road. Boy, were we wrong! It seems that there are a lot of jobs out there and we are learning a lot in a short amount of time. This is truly a team effort of the Lord and us. So far we have 2 interviews set up, one was today. We have 1 recruiter who needs an A & P mechanic for one of her clients, and she didn’t think she would be able to fill that position. And we still have 2 names of men working at an airline here in Cleveland to call and see where those lead.It seems like the more people we tell and talk to about what we are doing, the more networking happens. At first Phil was shy about telling folks but I said ” you never know who knows someone”. And it’s proving to be true. I am so amazed at what the Lord is doing. It’s interesting cause the people he has talked to have found it “funny” that all of a sudden Phil is making connections with them. Hmmm, we know it’s the Lord. Wow is all I can say.And thanks to all of you who are praying.

Turn up your speakers. This is so funny. It’s Elizabeth laughing while a puppy licks her hands. She is such a doll baby. I can’t wait for this weekend!

Singing Sunday….

Posted by micie66 on September 16, 2007

My friend, Sonshine, posts what she calls, “Singing Sunday” on her blog each Sunday. Today I was in church and was moved by this song.

Bebo Norman \ My Eyes Have Seen Holy
Am I unfit for You
Remember me, the one who turned from You
I come in rags tattered by the Fall
And all the earth, a witness to my crime

Mercy, weep over me
Let Your tears wash me clean
Majesty, be merciful with me
For my eyes have seen Holy

Hear my prayer at night
Let the morning find me alive
For I am tired and weakened by the Fall
Let all the earth bear witness to my cry

Let the Amen sound from Heaven as You lift my soul
Let the Amen sound from Heaven as You lift my soul
Let the Angels sound from Heaven, Holy is the Lord

I was really hearing from the Lord during this song. I know that Phil and I are on the right path for our lives at this moment. We are doing what we are supposed to be doing. It’s the right time for him to find a new job. The engine is running on the plane in our lives.
