It was a great day. I slept in until 10:00 AM! Then I had coffee with my hubby, he is the best. We cleaned up the house and got ready and went to lunch. We had mexican food, yummy! My daughter, Lauren, and her boyfriend were here making me a cake and dinner.
I did help with some of both, but that was ok. Lauren decided to try a new recipe for the cake. Well she measured the flour before sifting, so the cake came out dry and denser than it should have. It was still good. My mother-in-law helped her with the whipping cream and cherry sauce. For dinner, she made
chicken scampi. It’s a super easy recipe. She cut up the chicken and then put the coating mixture into a bag. But she got the measurements wrong. Instead of teaspoons, she used tablespoons!
So we are eating dinner, and she whispers to me and asks if the scampi is supposed to be so salty. Well the main dish of scampi had cheese in it and I didn’t eat from that dish. I had a different batch of coating. So mine was just fine! lol…we all started talking about the saltiness of the dish and laughing about it. She was a good sport!
Then I opened presents. I got a little girls make-up kit from my son, Caleb. Phil got me 1/2 dozen red roses and I have another present from him coming later this week.
Lauren got me 2 purple wine glasses and a gift card to Best Buy. My in-laws got me a gift card to Wal-Mart and Grandma Jane gave me money. All that money/gift cards goes with Phil’s gift. Hmmmm…I think I am getting some kind of mp3 player and the money is for new songs for it! woot woot!!!
After gifts came dessert. It was decent. The whipping cream and cherry sauce made up for any dryness in the cake. I ended the night by watching an interesting, funny and touching movie with Phil. The movie was called “The Thing About My Parents”. It was a great movie about marriage and timely since we just finished the
Love and Respect video conference at church. The movie has a section where there is lots of swearing but it’s appropriate for the scene. Swearing is the language of anger so it fit.
All in all it was a great birthday. I am loved and cared for by my family. Everyone that could call me and wish me a happy birthday, did. I missed seeing my grandbaby yesterday but I will see her on Thanksgiving. That works for me.
