Thursday Thirteen #14

I got a new job! Finally after months of looking for the right one. Today I dedicate my list to my thoughts about my new job!

1. I am proud of myself for landing this job.

2. I am scared about having to keep to a new routine and schedule.

3. I am excited about the money I will be making for part time work.

4. I know I have a lot to learn about data collection and stores.

5. I am confident I can do this job and learn all that I need to learn.

6. I am concerned about the affect it will have on my household duties.

7. I am super excited to be able to get out of the house a few days a week and be around people.

8. Phil is proud that I got a job and knows I can do it well.

9. Data collection seems interesting in some ways and boring in others.

10.  There are some cool perks to the job, like bonuses and free stuff from stores!

11. I will know which stores have the best deals each week.

12. Since I will work on my own most of the time, I don’t have to deal with inter-personal office politics!

13.  I hope my back and legs can take the standing, bending and squatting I will have to be doing for this job. If not, my lists in the next few weeks will be about all the baths, massages and exercises I have to do to relieve the pain! lol…

Sunday news

Posted by micie66 on February 24, 2008

I haven’t felt like doing my normal blogging this week. Not sure why. Anyway, today I am home from church as I did not feel well. And tomorrow I am meeting the guy about a job. So I want to be well.

Last night was our last Blue and Gold Cub Scout banquet. Caleb crosses over to Boy Scouts next month so this was it for us for the B & G’s. Caleb and I worked on a cake for the dessert contest. His idea was to make a cake and decorate the top to look like the cross-over ceremony. So we found pictures of his Cubmaster and his new Scoutmaster, cut them out and taped to popsicle sticks. We mad a bridge with the Arrow of Light symbol on it. Here is the picture. Oh yeah, he won Judge’s Choice! Way to go Caleb!!!

att00039.jpg Click for a larger view.

We had to take a picture of Caleb for his stick to go on the bridge. Well we didn’t know it was an anonymous contest so Phil covered Caleb during the judging. He was very proud of the job he did. He did a lot of work with me.

So I got an email on Friday about a job doing data collecting for AC Nielsen. I hope I get it as it’s something I want to do and something that has flexible hours I can work into my schedule. I called the supervisor who emailed me and from the way the conversation went, it sounds like I have the job if I want it. That’s kind of cool. I was going to apply for 2 different library positions last week but found out that the deadlines for applications had passed. And one job had over 70 applications alone! I knew it was hopeless.

I guess we will find out if I can hold down a job and will it work for my family. Stay tuned.

The move is complete

Posted by micie66 on February 19, 2008

I finally deleted my blog at blogger but the placeholder is still there. If you found me by way of my profile page there, please change your bookmarks now. Thanks.

Now, there are many lurkers to my blog. How about letting me know who you are? I know how to track down some of you because I know how you get here. :-) I think that once in awhile, all lurkers should comment when visiting a blog, don’t you?

This is it for today. Let’s see if my blog here picks up the traffic the old blog did. People found me in most unusual ways. They searched for things like “fat haircut” or “fat chicks” or even “emotionally hijacking and child raising”! Should get interesting. Oh yeah, someone found this blog by searching for “mccain romney love”. Now besides today, just when did I post about them???

Menu Plan Monday

Posted by micie66 on February 18, 2008

mpm1.jpg

We have a busy week so the menu is simple and light.

Monday: Burgers and munchies

Tuesday: Breakfast for dinner-play that night

Wednesday: Chili (recipe below) and cornbread

Thursday: Michelle’s Italian chicken, pasta and green beans

Friday: Subs and salads

Saturday: Cub Scout Blue and Gold banquet

Sunday: Clean out the refridgerator.

Visiting Laura at Organizing Junkie for more menus. Thanks to Laura for hosting for so long and inspiring us to plan and be organized.

 My Award Winning Chili

2 lbs ground turkey
1/2 sweet onion chopped
4-5 cloves of garlic, crushed
Brown those 3 together. Drain off fat. Add two 28 ounce cans of tomato sauce, 1 large can of kidney beans, rinsed, and 1 small can of green chilies.
Add
3-4 tablespoons chili powder
1-2 teaspoons cumin
1-2 teaspoons cinnamon
salt and pepper

Cook on low in crock pot or on stove top.

I actually didn’t measure this time around so those are approximates. There was probably more garlic cause I let my ds do that part. It’s very spicy though. yummy.

Six unimportant things about me…

Posted by micie66 on February 17, 2008

While visiting Nicholas, I was inspired to post my own 6 things about me that are not important in any way, shape or form.

1. I am the 3rd child.

2. I would rather go without socks but my feet get cold in January-March.

 3. When I read books, I play with my eyebrows. (how weird is that?!)

4. I haven’t worn a dress or skirt in 26 months to the day! Last time was for my daughter’s wedding on Dec. 17, 2005.

5. I sleep on the right side of the bed, if you are looking at the headboard.

6. Following Nicholas’s lead, I have never eaten a brussel sprout, never driven a motorcycle, never had more than 3 jobs, was never asked to a dance, and I never want to live with roaches or bugs of any type again!

Ok if you want to have some meme fun, just let me know with a link back to me.

Thursday Thirteen #13

In honor of Valentines Day and all things romantic, I am going to list 13 things my hubby has done for me over the years or things he still does that are romantic.

redheart-h-border.gif

1. One time he arranged for a babysitter and took me on a carriage ride through our city. It was right around Valentines Day so it was cold and we were in a white carriage, covered, and under thick furry laprobes. Oh that was great!

redheart-h-border.gif

2. When he went to Bolivia for a missions trip, he was gone on our anniversary and arrived home right before Valentines Day. He brought us home brand new wedding rings and mine had Gen. 2:24 inscribed.

redheart-h-border.gif

3. One time he got all the kids out of the house and had our room all decorated with rose petals and candlelight. He ran a bath for me and added more rose petals.

redheart-h-border.gif

4. He often brings me flowers just because.

redheart-h-border.gif

5. For the anniversary he missed, he planned a surprise trip to Niagara Falls, once again arranging the babysitting. All he told me to pack were clothes for cold weather and sexy clothes for the hotel room!

redheart-h-border.gif

6. He regularly will scratch my back, rub lotion or oil onto it or just give me a great massage expecting nothing in return.

redheart-h-border.gif

7. He thinks of me often and writes me emails to let me know that.

redheart-h-border.gif

8. I am the first person he calls with all his good news.

redheart-h-border.gif

9. He opens the car door for me almost all the time and I feel loved and like a lady for that.

redheart-h-border.gif

10. He surprises me with the gifts he buys.

redheart-h-border.gif

11. He plans in home dates for us as well as dates where we go out to eat or to a movie.

redheart-h-border.gif

12. He will stop and buy me coffee, my favorite raspberry soy mocha from Starbucks.

redheart-h-border.gif

13. For our anniversary this year, he bought tickets to go see The King and I at a dinner theater. I love musicals and this is one of my favorites.
