sick and tired that is. We picked up a virus before we left and were sick for the trip. We made the most of it. I will be posting a full vacation trip post in a few days so stay tuned.

We’re in a packing frenzy here…

Phil and the boys are all about packed for their Scout Father’s Day camping trip. Then once they clear out I can begin to pack the suitcases with all the stuff we spent the morning buying! We went to the bank, Target, Walgreens and a few other stores just to get all the junk we needed for the trip! I can’t believe how much it costs to go on a trip! lol….

Lauren is letting me borrow her camera’s memory card since we have the same camera. Now we can take lots of pictures. I promise to share when I get back.

We decided that now is a good time for the van to get a tune up. We won’t need it for 8 days so our friend can take his time and just give it a good going over and fix a few minor things. Sunday will mean more packing. Arghh….

Oh did I mention that Lauren and I are getting manicures and pedicures tomorrow? Yep, it’s my Mother’s Day gift.

One more funny from my house to yours. I woke up to a note from Jake, written on the white board on the fridge. It says “Mom, when you have time, can you buy me 8 rolls of electricle tape and a watch batterie?” lol…spelling errors and all. What could he be wanting to make? Caleb thinks a bomb!

Been meaning to blog since Saturday….

and today I finally get the chance to sit and type out some stuff. On Saturday I got my hair permed. It looks great and is easy to manage. it’s not too curly and it’s just above my shoulders. I went to a real posh-type salon. They had “ambiance” all over the place! lol…there were smooth stones in the bathroom sink for ambiance! I said I should do that at home to cover over the rust stains in my sink! Thinking…..

Well when I got home, Phil and Jake loved my hair. Caleb wasn’t so sure about it. Poor kid ended up crying at bedtime because he just didn’t like the changed look. I guess his world was rocked in an odd sort of way. He is nothing like his dad cause Phil likes change. When we met my hair was long and curly so getting the perm was really good to him. When I fixed my hair on Tuesday, Jake said I was “hot and dad is a lucky man”! lol….he negated the comment 10 minutes later by telling me we needed a bow-flex machine so I could get rid of my “muffin top”! lol….gotta love the mind of a 13 year old boy.

Phil’s parents are back in town and they are settling in nicely. They get the boys Sunday and between them and Lauren, they will be taken care of while we are on our trip. It sounds like my mother in law is not happy about all the coming and going to SC each summer. Plus we all want them to move back here anyway so I think she is just not sure what is right for them to do at this point. Grandma is 88 and misses all her church family here and I know all of us and their friends miss them dearly so we would love for them to move back. I guess we can just hope for that. We had a nice visit last night with them. It was our Father’s Day celebration since Sunday is going to be super busy. Phil and the boys will be camping all weekend and when they return, we will have to wash clothes and repack for everyone.

I have to work a few hours tomorrow and then again on Sunday. I am trying to do as many of my stores so whoever takes on my stuff won’t have too much. We are in the middle of a big set of surveys so I hate to add extra hours for someone but my boss said it’s ok.  So I will go and not worry about work while in the Caribbean.  Speaking of the Caribbean…

I am just about all ready to begin packing this weekend. Just a few loads of laundry, a last minute trip for some essential items and then one trip to the bank for money. Everything else seems to be in order. Housesitter is lined up, boys taken care of, and that’s it. I might not blog again till we get back so be good while I am gone! I will return with lots of pictures and hopefully not a sunburn.

News about everyone…

It’s been a long week and things are winding down. I guess the thing I want to say first is that I am doing well with all the changes. That is big for me. In the past, a shift in routine would jar me into a funk of some sort but this time I am doing really good. Everyone seems to have some news so I will just write about each person individually.

Phil: He has been home almost a week now and is doing good. He is a bit restless and the news is not good about layoffs in airlines but we aren’t nervous. God has the right job out there for him and we can handle a few months of him not working. But can he handle it? LOL…he is getting antsy but tonight he did something he has been dreaming of for years: he bought a new toolchest! Ah, men, they are simple creatures. Tools and metal make them happy. He bought a huge honkin’ thing! We had to take the back seat out of the van to load it into the back. It weighs over 200 pounds, empty. Wait until he loads up his tools! Yikes. I told him that is when he calls a buddy to help load it into a truck and get it to the next job. We have sent a resume and made a call about a local job but haven’t heard anything yet. There are 5 openings so we were hoping he has a chance. Pray about it for us, will ya?

Jake and Caleb: school is out as of today! Yeah…no more homework or tears over homework. No more early mornings for awhile. We all like sleeping in around here. And tonight they are up late watching a movie. Caleb gets his “summer” haircut tomorrow. They are both going away to Boy Scout camp in July. They are going with Phil for a Father’s Day campout next weekend before Phil and I leave for the Caribbean. The boys will stay with their grandparents or Lauren.

Lauren: She is growing up. So far she is saving money and handling her pregnancy very well. She is doing all she needs to do to stay healthy and she is learning boundaries. Thursdays seem to be the day she likes to ask to come over for dinner and family time so I opened the door to her for that and she has a standing date each Thursday with us. We are busy now with childbirth/preparation classes on Mondays. I will miss a few while away but she has a friend filling in for me those weeks. I am her coach! Yikes. Can I do this? Will we survive? Time will tell. Her baby shower is at the end of this month and things are going well.

Me: Ah, I saved the best for last. I am doing good, like I said, with the changes. But I am sad that the Pens lost last night. I finally watched a game and they lost. But they played a hard game and Detroit just outplayed them. I am busy buying needed items for our trip to Punta Cana. We leave in 11 days! Super excited here. I might try snorkeling. I might try a whole bunch of new mixed drinks. I might even learn to swim! lol….I still like my job but next week is going to be hectic and so will the week I return from vacation.  I am forming relationships with some of the people in the stores where I work. They are getting to know me and that’s good. I wanted that to happen. I don’t like be nameless or invisible anyway. One sweet lady at a convenience store was out sick and I wondered where she was. She told me today about being sick and asked if I missed her. I said I did because it’s true. She is one of the few who greet me by name, well by nickname anyway. I never liked “chele” as a nickname but it’s ok coming from her. Funny how that works.

I guess that’s it. Oh wait, I forgot about the babies! Izzy and Asher are doing great. Here is a picture of them with their daddy from last month. Aren’t they adorable?
