A cute picture…

I often post pictures of my grandkids but they are usually alone. This time I have a picture of my daughter, Lauren, and her son, Isaiah to share.

For Elizabeth…

One more gift done and out of the way. I made a pencil roll for her. Brit tells me that she would rather she have Elizabeth use colored pencils instead of markers or crayons when she colors. So I made this pencil roll. I recycled, once again, that old sheet and a pink striped shirt. The ribbon closure is also from the recycled stash of items coming from a shower gift for Isaiah. The only new items in the making was the fusible fleece I used to make it a quilt-like thickness. I am going to use more of that sheet and make an art bag for a paper tablet and coloring books. Fun times.

My creativity and skills are improving…

Here is today’s project. I was going to make a softie in the shape of the Matryoshka doll but I ended up with a tiny purse instead! lol….more work than I realized and next time I will just make the softie. I have babies who would like those.

This is a 9 inch tall by 7 inch wide bag. It has one strap that goes from front to back. Perfect for a little girl. I added in a velcro closure this time.

My newest purse(s)…

This is a recycling project. I used a little girls mini-skirt from The Place and an old vintage sheet from my hubby’s grandma. This was not to difficult and I am pleased with the results. I have one more skirt to make into a bag, plus two other totes to sew! Gotta get cracking!

Instead of a new post, I will add the pictures here of the second recycled purse.

I made the tie closure utilizing the button in front and loop in the back. The tie can be removed. Close up of the tie.

In honor of my birthday…

A picture from when I was about eight years old. I am the only girl with my brothers and cousin. We were at the wedding of a much older cousin and I guess we got ahold of a whiskey bottle. Hmmm….

I think I found my addiction-purse making!

Here is today’s purse. It’s called the Jordy (I didn’t name the style). I am going to offer this for sale. It’s a small little sporty bag, perfect for a quick trip to the mall or shopping. It’s made of embroidered linen and cranberry cotton for the lining. It features a magnetic snap closure and double stitching for strength all around. Large enough to carry the essentials. There is a two-slot credit card holder, another small pocket inside-perfect for cell phone or “womanly needs”, your keys, and your sunglasses. It also makes a great evening bag. Contact me at micie66 at yahoo dot com for information.

One more shoutout..this time with a giveaway…

This is one of my favorite blogs. Lauren at Gigglepotamus is giving away one of her super fabulous homemade items. She also has an Etsy store where you can see more of her things. She picked up on the miniature pincushions pretty fast. I love her applique work as well. So jump on over to Gigglepotamus for a great contest. And while you are there click on her Etsy shop and take a look around.

How I spent the morning…

making one more gift. This is a bedside organizer. I was going to make decorated tea towels for this person, but the towels I bought were el-cheapo and I needed an idea quick! So I visited some of my favorite crafty sites and found this tutorial. I made adjustments to fit my needs, especially since I hate bias tape stuff, but here is the completed project.

The blue part at the top is the sticky shelf liner stuff that keeps this between the mattress and box spring. I will offer to divide the pockets with a stitch if she likes. Otherwise this is it. It’s 17 in. wide X 25 long. This gives her plenty of fabric and liner to sandwich in the mattress and box spring.
