Last night my son Caleb earned his Arrow of Light award, the highest award in Cub Scouts. He then crossed over into Boy Scouts, joining his brother, Jake, in the local troop. He is so proud and so am I and his father. That boy worked hard! He earned it in about 5 months instead of about 2 years. He was in Webelos I in September but because of issues involving the den leaders and others, he was ready to quit. We got permission for him to join the Webelos II den and move up, since he is 11. It was in that den that he worked like crazy to complete all the requirements to get his AoL award. I will post a picture or two later. I am waiting on some through email from other parents who had cameras. We have yet buy a new one! That is coming soon.
I am loving my new job even though I am still in training. So far it’s easy but lots of headwork. I have to use my brain a lot to work this job. I am still asking myself the questions out loud while I go through a store and all it’s different displays that I have to scan. I think once I get my rhthym down, it will be easier and I won’t be asking all the questions out loud. They will just come natural.
Tomorrow is spring break for the boys. Yippee! No more getting up super early for me! I am not working again till next Thursday. Phil and I are getting away for a few days next week. The boys are visiting Brit and going to help her with the babies for a few days. I know they will love it. Maybe I will post a Thursday Thirteen later. Right now I have to make a snack for Caleb’s class since it’s my turn this month. Green rice krispy treats!

Sometimes it’s my kids and their antics that keep me going in one direction or the other. Take Jake, for instance. At church, his former counselor jokingly walked by and flicked him on the head. He laughed it off. After service, he told her she injured his sensitive skull! lol..so she and the couple she was chatting with said let’s pray for you. So they did. We came along just after that and got to talking with them. They said that Jake has an annointing on him. They sensed it the minute they began praying. This one woman is a reknown intercessor for our denomination. She travels the world for prayer meetings and I know she hears from the Lord, so I trust what she said. It was something we needed to hear as that boy can exhaust us. She said he “wrestles with God but doesn’t need to ’steal’ his annointing”. Jacob, in the bible did steal the annointing from his brother. At one point, Rosemary called my Jake, Israel! He took it all in stride.
Then after church, at home, I was talking with Lauren about this baby and her plans. I asked if she is still considering placing the baby for adoption. She said yes. We talked about how that might look for her and the couple she has in mind. I know she needs to gain some inner strength if she is to do that. What she doesn’t know is how God is moving in the lives of the couple she is considering. There were some words given to them about a “surprise” from the Lord to them and I can’t help but think Lauren’s baby could be the surprise they are waiting for. They have long been trying to have their own children and nothing. They offered to adopt Lauren’s baby when she told them she is pregnant and not sure of what she is going to do. We are all for it. I think it could be the best answer to a hard situation.
Jake asked Lauren what happened to “CJ” since she got pregnant. Jake figured out that ”CJ” didn’t he want a serious relationship with her after he “transferred his stuff to her and made a baby”?!! We both had to turn away so we would not laugh at his choice of words! It was rather funny but serious. Jake had it right on. He knows what he is talking about for one so young. I guess that means all those talks about saving yourself for marriage has not been falling on deaf ears.
Caleb, well he is just a pistol! He says some incredible things as well. When he got his last report card, he said he made all A’s again, but that his grades went down! lol…his A+’s went to A’s or A-’s. He is a perfectionist in some ways. He is now in the gifted program at school. He also is completing all the Arrow of Light requirements in 6 months instead of 2 years. He is doing really well in Scouts. I hope he enjoys being a Boy Scout as well.
Then we have Brittany and Jonathan. They have given us two beautiful grandbabies. They are doing well for such a quick courtship and marriage. I mean it was not much more than 7 months from meeting to wedding. Then two babies in two years! But they are the sane ones in the group. They are the ones living life like you expect when you kids grow up and move on into adulthood. I am praying for the same for my other children and for my grandchildren.
One more note. Our counselor and life-mentor has written a book. I bought the last copy at the church bookstore today. It’s called The Fox in the Chicken Coop by Ric, our counselor, (if you want the last name, send me an email or leave comment). It’s all about high-stakes relationships and how they mold us and affect us. He self-published the book but it’s so good, and I have only read the introduction, that I know it would sell many copies. He has wisdom beyond words and I know that the Lord has truly gifted this man. I will miss him when he finally relocates to another part of the state.
Ok, enough Sunday thoughts and musings and rambling on. Have a great day!

Today is not starting out to be good. My lack of organization and Jake’s lack of the same caused him to not get his permission slip and money in for a play this Friday. Poor kid! He’s been doing so great in school lately and here I go and mess it up, albeit he helped as well. If it’s not written down then I forget.
Then he called to say he needed his pencil pouch and could I bring it. Ok, yeah since I messed up on the form. But when I went looking for it, it was not here. No where to be found. So I called and left a voice mail for his teacher to ask him to look in his things again for it. Plus he was supposed to bring in pizza? for some class project. He told me two times, one last week and one time last night around 9PM. I don’t have pizza makings around here!!!!
I am hoping this day gets better, like with a job offer for Phil! That would be uplifting. Or that I can successfully make some Christmas treats and they turn out good. Something has got to give!
