Thursday Thirteen

Posted by micie66 on April 10, 2008

I can’t seem to upload picture files, so I’ll do without it!

Thirteen quirks about my job:

1. I get asked way too many times if I work for the store I am in.

2. I am really tired of hearing 80’s Pop “muzak” in the stores.

3. On the other hand, I like that one store plays a local country station.

4. People think I am doing an important job cause I have a “computer-like” device in my hand. Hah!

5. The pay is still good for what I am doing.

6. I get to read funny bumper stickers. How about this one, seen on a gas-guzzling Land Rover-”Tree hugging dirt worshipper”! lol…

7. I am still finding time to complete my house duties.

8. In the busyness, I still found time to take up an old hobby-sewing.

9. I feel good about myself and what I am doing.

10. I get to see what is on sale and where to shop for good deals.

11. I spend less time online, good-but less time playing Literati=bad!

12. I am getting better at organizing my time and things.

13. I don’t have a boss hovering over me every day I go to work! That is a good part although my boss is really a nice guy.

So there are some thoughts about my job I have been wanting to blog about but haven’t found the time. Visit Thursday Thirteen for more fun!

Time for my weekly Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen reasons I moved my blog:

1. WordPress is simple to use.

2. MJ twisted my arm, not really.

3. I like the dashboard on WP rather than Blogger.

4. I like to change things up a bit now and then.

5. Even though my good friend updated the graphics at my other blog, and I appreciate her hard work, I think I will stay here.

6. I think change is good, did I say that already.

7. The widgets here are super cool.

8. I like the clean lines and clear directions.

9. WP has lots of cool templates. I will be changing mine from time to time just to find a favorite.

10. I can finally have a links bar on the side! I lost the code at blogger and lost my links while trying to change them.

11. Losing my links was rough so I like being able to start again here.

12. I hope my friends and readers don’t mind the change.

13. Change is good, even when painful, but this was the most painfree change I have had in a long time.

Thursday Thirteen #8

Posted by micie66 on January 3, 2008

I almost forgot that it is Thursday because of the holidays and such. I was out and driving and remembered and came up with my theme for today. Since Christmas just passed and lots of folks give the gift of games for Christmas, I thought my TT would be my favorite games to play. In no particular order, but just remember I am highly intelligent and competitve!

1. Apples to Apples: We got this a few years back and have loved playing it ever since. When my dd crashed her car in Jan. 2005, she had the game in the back of her car. She turned the car upside down and things went flying. The next day we went to clean up the yard of the debris and found Apples to Apples cards everywhere. We got a new game after that!

2. Pictionary: I love to draw and guess. I tried playing Yahoo’s Graffitti game online but folks on there are so juvenile that all they draw are obscene pictures. I would love to find a group of folks to play online again.

3. Guesstures: Oh, this is like charades but better. I love having to act out or guess. I am great at guessing.

4. Literati: Ok, it’s an online game, but I love it. Especially when I play with friends and have time to chat while playing. And since I was burned by a stranger last night, next stranger to take more than the alloted time, I am going to force forfeit and claim the victory. I have no time to waste!

5. Gin Rummy: I like to think I can beat Phil at this game, but for some reason he always wins. What’s worse is he keeps asking the rules and stuff each time we play, which makes me think he is an easy opponent. I think he is bluffing me.

6. Mad Gab: This is a great game for those without accents! If you have a mixed crowd of accented voices, this game will be hilarious. Try getting a woman who says bag like vague to pronounce things right.

7. Crazy Eights: Card game but it’s been a favorite of mine since I was a kid.

8. Trivial Pursuit: Any edition is fine with me. I love all trivia games and puzzles.

9. Scattergories: Fun but after you play a few times, the fun is gone cause you always come up with the same stinking answers.

10. Balderdash: I love trying to bluff cause I am no good at it.

11. Kings in the Corners: Another card game but fun to play.

12. Life: I guess as a kid it was great. I don’t enjoy it much now.

13. Candyland: I played this with all my kids as they grew up. I guess the next go round with be with Elizabeth and Asher when they are older.

Thursday Thirteen #2

Posted by micie66 on September 27, 2007

Today I am going to list 13 things, not people, I can’t live without. I bet this ends up making me look shallow, but probably if the truth be told, many of the readers would have to admit to a list similar to mine. So here we go. (Sorry I didn’t do a TT last week. I was uninspired.)

In random order:

1. My computer: it connects me to the world that I couldn’t otherwise be in touch with given I am a stay at home mom.

2. My cell phone: yeah, many people for many many years lived without one but now that I have one, I wouldn’t want to be without it. Seriously though, if we have to cut back on expenses, it’s going to be the one thing I try to keep.

3. My contact lens: I hate wearing glasses. Mine are thick and ugly. They get dirty and oily so easily. I love my contacts but I think I need new ones.

4. My hot pink crocs: They are knock-off’s of the original brand. My back doesn’t ache after wearing them and being out on my feet all day. Don’t worry, I don’t have a reason to use escalators much.

5. My house: OK, maybe it’s a given, but hey, we all gotta live somewhere, right? Mine is just the right size but could use some more closet space and organization. Heck, it needs cleaned too. But it keeps me warm and dry.

6. My van: It’s my main mode of transportation. We inherited it from my dad when he died. It doesn’t have sentimental value so much as it just filled our need when it was there. God knew what He was doing in that situation.

7. A good purse: I am having the worst time finding exactly what I need and want. And it has to fit my budget, read that as cheap! Come on ladies, you know what I am talking about, right?

8. My meds: Hey they keep me stable and stable is a good thing.

9. Dark chocolate: Any brand or kind. I even like the stuff with nuts and berries in it that Hershey makes. It’s all good.

10: Soy cheese: Yep, I will admit it that this one sounds funny. See, I loved cheese. All kinds of cheese. I was a cheese connoisseur. But alas, I am not able to tolerate cheese or almost any kind of dairy any longer. So I settle for soy cheese in my food. I use slices and shreds. It makes me feel like I am still getting cheese. Pathetic, huh?

11. Coffee: I like half-caff. It does what I need it to do. I love going to Starbucks or Caribou with my wonderful man and just sitting and chatting and people watching while we enjoy a cup of coffee. When I splurge, I order a Grande Soy Raspberry Mocha without whipped cream. Yep, sounds good.

12. Coconut oil: I am going to leave out the explanation for this one. This will give you something to search around the ‘net for. LOL….

13. Music: It inspires me. It speaks to me. It lifts me up. It consols me when I am down. I like country, Christian and old classic rock.

I hope you enjoyed my list. Do your own. Leave a comment if you do as well as a link.

Thanks to Thursday Thirteen for hosting and inspiring.
